The Lowcountry Becomes You in Beaufort South Carolina

Dataw Island gets more beautiful as time goes by. I was one of the lucky Realtors hired by Alcoa, South Carolina in 1985 prior to the island property being offered for sale. Alcoa believed in training their employees extensively. We enjoyed letting the wait and kitchen staff at the club "practice" on us. We would go into the dining room at the clubhouse and the staff would pretend that we were customers giving us the entire dinner experience.

I also had the opportunity to see the first of two eighteen hole golf courses (designed by Tom Fazio) the har tru tennis courts, junior Olympic size pool, and miles of fitness trails being built. Then in the late 80's, another 18 holes of golf (designed by Arthur Hills) and the deep water marina were added. When Alcoa turned the amenities over to the property owners, they voted to add a banquet room with approx. 10,000 sq. ft. to the clubhouse and a 15,000 sq.ft community/fitness center with indoor pool. There are also two wonderful croquet courts.

The Dataw Island residents are lucky to have all these wonderful amenities and to be close to the beautiful city of historic Beaufort, SC as well as Hunting Island, a 5,000 acre park owned by the state of South Carolina with approx. 4 miles of sandy beach, abundant wildlife, a fishing pier and a. lighthouse. You might want to climb the 170 foot lighthouse and enjoy a magnificent view of the coast.

You can "Experience Dataw Island" for yourself. Just me know your travel dates so I can check availability.
